Tonight at my photography club we were looking at images we'd created from an image we'd been given (well, 3 images, but I picked one. Most people picked only one, some people merged a couple). From the base image, you could do whatever you wanted with it. So when I was looking through my photos on my PC, I started adding things and, well, it turned into a bit of a horror movie! (A really cheesy low budget one mind you!)

I was quite happy that mine got a laugh because I'd had no idea what was expected having never done it before at the club. There were quite a few silly ones and some were actually really good!

I'm definitely quite happy with it, partly because I barely had any time to spend on it! (Maybe an hour at most?)

This one was mentioned (they've talked about it a few times) and actually does look somewhat funny.



And seriously? All Stargate fans must watch this Hot Tub Time Machine trailer (above) coz there's a bit in the middle that almost killed me!

You honestly have to watch the trailer because it really is that bad! I actually had to look the film up to check that it really was real and not some fake trailer!

The acting? The special effects? *rofl*

We're watching So You Think You Can Dance on BBC1... and there's a Stargate on stage.

An actual Stargate.
With chevrons.
And symbols.
Covered in glitter.

Nigel Lythgoe even mentioned "coming through the Stargate".

Random, yes/yes?

Apparently people think invisible ropes to be quite dangerous things! :-D

I'm thinking that we totally need these for the flat. It'd make cleaning the kitchen so much quicker!

Quite probably the last of my Zimbabwe photos (so that's a quarter of my trip done!).

When coming back from Victoria Falls to Antelope Park, we made the trip last a few days so that we could visit various game parks along the way. One such place we went to was Matopas National Park near Bulawayo. That's the place where I got my white rhino photos.

We had a guide Andy who took us through the Park on foot, following animal tracks so that he could take us up close to the rhino (within about 10 metres of a pair of rhino, was all very cool. I've posted the photo earlier on here).


The walk to and from the rhinos was not fun because there were so many spiky plants. Like this, for example:

I always call it the Spiky Tree. There are many of this type of tree in Zimbabwe.

I, of course, was wearing shorts. Got a good few scratches that day!

And then when surface_missile and I were back in our room, I thought I had a splinter in my calf because I had an area that was a bit ouchy and I could feel my nail catching on something when I ran my finger over that area.

So I get surface_missile to shine my torch at my leg for me, and I try to grasp this bit of a splinter between my nails. I manage to get it and *pull*, when out comes...



THIS!!!

OMG I actually was going "ahh eww ahh eww!" or something when I did that! lol

I had a thorn that was longer than a centimetre embedded in my calf! Eww! That's quite a way in!

And so Matopas National Park is now known as the Evil Spiky Place to me. :-D

We have a sofa! And an arm chair to go with it.

Rather amusingly, I apparently not only managed to sleep through the delivery, but also misssimm knocking on my door *and* opening it and calling to me to wake up. Which I didn't.

I guess my first week of work tired me out a lot more than I thought! Though when I did wake up at 9am, I felt very refreshed, which was good.

Last week I went away on holiday - I know, crazy when I've already been away for 4 months this year! But my dad wanted a holiday with Tom, and Tom didn't want to go with just Dad, so I got invited too.

Other things of interest that week were that the 7 of us "kids" (ranging from 12-23) left the adults to dinner on Thursday night (we'd finished, they didn't yet have their main course!). So back in the hotel someone said "Let's see if we'll all fit in the lift!". It should be noted that the lift had a sign in it that it was for 4 people or 300kg maximum. So all 7 of us piled in (I'd guess well over 400kg!) and pressed our floor numbers (2, 3, 5). The lift went up, though it didn't feel like it was moving, the number went to 2. Then the lift stopped. The doors didn't open. The lights in the control panel went out. We were stuck! We broke the lift. One of the boys, Pedro, called his Dad (turned out two came over, heard what happened, laughed and left), we pressed the "we're stuck" button. Eventually we were let out, which resulted in us all running off away from the woman who let us out *g*. And then we all hid 3 in one room, Tom and I in our room with two girls Emma and Louise who had forgotton to pick their key up and were too embarrassed to go downstairs and get it! So embarrassing and funny!

On the Friday night, we got back to the hotel and one of the families discovered that their room key wasn't in the slot and they didn't have it. After looking for ages and trying to find a staff member to contact with no luck, dad John who, along with my dad had had 'a little bit' to drink, decided he wasn't going to wait any more. So up the stairs he went. I went up a short while later and saw a pair of feet sticking out of a hole in the wall! There was a little hatch that opened into the cupboard in their room, and he'd managed to pry it open and was sliding in through it. And then the whole family went through too! The next day, he climbed back out the hole and went down to reception to ask them to unlock the door to let them out.



Oh, and scarily? I now have actual muscles you can feel when I tense my arms!

Awesome holiday. I loved it.
